Materials AI/ML Specialist

What you'll do

• Apply AI/ML methods like Bayesian optimization and active learning to accelerate experimental planning for adhesive formulations.
• Perform hands-on formulation, mechanical, and performance testing to generate high-quality data for machine learning analysis.
• Analyze formulation, process, and performance data using statistical models to drive technical decision-making.
• Utilize generative AI and LLMs for literature mining and hypothesis generation in materials discovery.
• Develop and evolve shared digital tools and platforms for experiment planning and knowledge capture.
• Communicate technical findings and data-driven insights to cross-functional stakeholders including chemists and engineers.
• Manage multiple concurrent development programs while balancing lab work with analytical tasks in a fast-paced environment.

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
• Three years of experience in new product development, formulation, or experimental/lab work.
• Two years of experience using AI/ML or data science tools within an experimental or lab setting.
• Working knowledge of Python and common ML/data science libraries like PyTorch, Scikit-Learn, and Pandas.
• Experience with Bayesian optimization, active learning, surrogate modeling, or other statistical design-of-experiments techniques.
• Hands-on experience with adhesive, PSA, tape, coating, or polymer formulation and mechanical testing.
• Ability to communicate technical findings clearly to cross-functional stakeholders including chemists and engineers.
