TL;DR · Manufacturing Test Engineer, Electronic Warfare

Manufacturing Test Engineer, Electronic Warfare joins the EW Manufacturing team to manage testing activities across the manufacturing value chain for electromagnetic warfare hardware. This role involves ensuring products meet stringent quality standards and production throughput requirements by troubleshooting complex electrical issues, developing test work instructions in MES, and performing root cause analysis on non-conforming hardware. The engineer will improve automation, cycle times, and test coverage while maintaining and calibrating equipment like oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and power supplies. Key technical skills include proficiency with Linux, Ubuntu, LabVIEW, NixOS, and Python for data parsing. Candidates must navigate PCBA testing standards, manage integration of electrical and mechanical systems, and utilize PLM, MES, and TES platforms. The role addresses the challenge of rapidly iterating and building high-quality defense hardware within a complex electronic warfare domain.

What you'll do

  • Manage production test flows and provide hands-on troubleshooting for complex electrical issues during testing.
  • Maintain test capabilities across the manufacturing value stream from system level checkouts to component validation.
  • Improve existing test systems to enhance automation, consistency, cycle time, and overall test coverage.
  • Create clear work instructions for technicians and provide necessary training on equipment usage.
  • Develop a library of common failure modes with troubleshooting guides for rapid issue resolution.
  • Perform root cause analysis on product failures and recommend corrective actions.
  • Analyze test data and document results to identify defects and areas for process improvement.
  • Maintain and calibrate test equipment to ensure precision and reliability during production.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronics, Computer, Mechanical Engineering, or related fields.
  • 5+ years of relevant industry experience with emphasis on manufacturing test and product sustainment.
  • Familiarity with Linux, Ubuntu, LabVIEW, and NixOS.
  • Experience with contract manufacturers for testing PCBA/electronic assemblies and knowledge of PCBA testing standards.
  • Familiarity with electronics test equipment including power supplies, oscilloscopes, function generators, and spectrum analyzers.
  • Strong root cause analysis skills for non-conforming hardware.
  • Proficiency with PLM, MES, and TES systems.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US DoD clearance.
  • 8+ years of relevant industry experience (preferred).
  • Pursuing a Master’s degree in an engineering or computer science field (preferred).
  • Familiarity with Python, LabVIEW, or MATLAB for data parsing and visualization (preferred).
  • Experience with test automation, PCBA design, mechanical design, and hardware communication protocols (preferred).
  • Experience with ESS-related testing such as thermal and vibration (preferred).
