Manufacturing System Engineer - Testing Machine System Owner serves as the Automation System Owner for quality-critical testing equipment within the Engineering and Maintenance department. This role involves designing, developing, and maintaining automation and control strategies to ensure reliable, compliant, and consistent test operations. The individual will implement and optimize PLCs, HMIs, and other components while managing system lifecycle activities like upgrades, patching, and root cause analysis. Key responsibilities include integrating new technologies into the testing environment, performing data analysis for performance improvements, and ensuring all systems align with FDA, GMP, and internal quality standards. The role requires expertise in process control, instrumentation, and data integrity to support manufacturing processes. Required skills include experience with Siemens or Rockwell platforms, machine vision, robotics, and technical writing within a highly regulated pharmaceutical or biotechnology environment.
Serve as the Automation System Owner for quality-critical testing equipment to ensure reliability and regulatory compliance.
Design, develop, and maintain automation and control strategies including PLCs and HMIs to support consistent test operations.
Integrate new automation technologies into the testing environment while ensuring seamless data flow and connectivity.
Analyze system performance data to identify trends and lead root cause analysis for corrective actions.
Manage the full lifecycle of automation systems, including upgrades, patching, and preventive maintenance.
Ensure all automation systems comply with FDA, GMP, and internal quality standards during audits and inspections.
Develop and deliver training programs for engineering and operations staff on automated testing system maintenance.
Lead automation projects from concept through implementation to meet safety, quality, and business objectives.
What we're looking for
A Master’s degree or Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of automation experience in pharmaceutical, medical device, or biotechnology industries.
An Associate’s degree and 6 years of automation experience in pharmaceutical, medical device, or biotechnology industries.
A high school diploma/GED and 8 years of automation experience in pharmaceutical, medical device, or biotechnology industries.
Advanced degree in Mechatronics, Computer, Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering (preferred).
Knowledge of pharmaceutical/biotech processes, specifically in final drug product operations (preferred).
Extensive background in programming, design, installation, validation, and lifecycle management of manufacturing process controls and automation (preferred).
Experience with Machine Vision, Serialization, Robotics, Siemens, and Rockwell software platforms (preferred).
Ability to interpret GAMPs/GMPs and knowledge of validation protocol execution for new equipment installations (preferred).
