Manager 3, Forward Deployed Engineering Team (AI) leads a pod of Forward Deployed Engineers to transition AI pilots into production automation within the general ledger for enterprise finance customers. This player-coach role involves hiring, coaching, and managing engineers while owning technical direction, delivery outcomes, and customer relationships. You will manage concurrent high-stakes deployments, serve as an executive-level escalation point for CFOs and IT leaders, and build implementation playbooks. Key responsibilities include prioritizing requirements, managing SLAs, and partnering with Core Engineering to sharpen product roadmaps. Required technical skills include REST APIs, GraphQL, webhooks, SQL, and enterprise integrations. You must possess deep experience with Agentic AI tools like LangChain, LangGraph, RAG, and vector stores, alongside LLMs from OpenAI, Gemini, and Anthropic to automate complex accounting processes.
Hire, coach, and manage a team of Forward Deployed Engineers while owning their career growth and performance.
Own the technical direction, engineering quality, and prioritization for all active customer engagements within the pod.
Serve as the executive-level technical face for strategic accounts, engaging directly with CFOs and IT leaders.
Manage the pod's capacity by sequencing incoming requests and staffing requirements against real engineering resources.
Act as the primary escalation point for complex architecture, integration, and data-flow issues requiring manager authority.
Partner with Core Engineering and Product teams to ensure field learnings inform the long-term product roadmap.
Build and maintain implementation playbooks, expansion frameworks, and reusable assets to accelerate future deployments.
Report pod health, SLA performance, and delivery risks to engineering and go-to-market leadership.
What we're looking for
8+ years of experience in Forward Deployed Engineering, Solutions Engineering, Sales Engineering, technical consulting, or a comparable customer-embedded role.
2+ years of experience directly managing engineers, ideally in a customer-facing, field, or forward-deployed capacity.
Deep experience with REST APIs, GraphQL, webhooks, SQL, and enterprise integrations.
Deep experience with Agentic AI including LangChain, LangGraph, MCP servers, multi-agent, RAG, and vector stores.
Experience with LLMs and tooling such as OpenAI, Gemini, Anthropic, GitHub Copilot, and prompt engineering.
Proven track record of leading multiple concurrent technical deployments under real delivery and revenue pressure.
Experience managing a field or forward-deployed engineering team specifically, rather than a traditional product engineering team (preferred).
Domain experience in accounting/ERP, fintech, or specific priority verticals like construction, nonprofit, or manufacturing (preferred).
