JOB TITLE: Lead, Systems Engineer - Space Vehicle
The Lead, Systems Engineer - Space Vehicle joins the Spectral Solutions division to support space vehicle-level development for missile warning and missile defense missions. This role leads technical planning, requirements development, integration, verification, and lifecycle execution for advanced space-based systems. The engineer manages spacecraft system requirements, architecture trades, and technical risk assessments while coordinating cross-functional efforts across payload, avionics, flight software, mechanical, thermal, power, propulsion, and guidance teams. Key responsibilities include leading system integration, verification, and validation, and supporting major technical reviews like SRR, PDR, and CDR. The position requires expertise in Model-Based Systems Engineering, requirements management tools, and configuration management. The work involves solving complex aerospace problems related to orbital regimes, radiation, thermal, and telecom to ensure mission success and performance.
Lead space vehicle-level systems engineering from concept development through design, integration, test, and launch.
Own the development, decomposition, allocation, and management of spacecraft system requirements to subsystem levels.
Manage system-level trades, performance analyses, and design decisions regarding capability, cost, schedule, and risk.
Lead system integration, verification, validation, and test planning to ensure compliance with mission objectives.
Support major technical reviews and present technical status to internal and external stakeholders.
Identify and mitigate technical risks associated with spacecraft design, manufacturing, and launch vehicle interfaces.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to systems engineers and cross-disciplinary engineering teams.
What we're looking for
Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field and 9 years of relevant experience; or a Graduate degree and 7 years of relevant experience; or 13 years of experience without a degree.
Ability to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance.
Experience leading space vehicle systems engineering on government, civil, or commercial satellite programs (preferred).
Experience supporting spacecraft integration and test, environmental qualification, launch site operations, or on-orbit anomaly resolution (preferred).
Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), requirements management tools, and configuration management processes (preferred).
Familiarity with system-level performance analysis, space vehicle design considerations, and top-level mission analysis (preferred).
