The Lead, Systems Engineer joins a collaborative engineering organization to provide technical leadership for complex avionics and electronic subsystem development programs. This role involves guiding cross-disciplinary teams through the full product lifecycle, from concept development and requirements definition to design, integration, verification, certification, and field support. Key responsibilities include managing system, hardware, and software requirements, performing trade studies, and overseeing system integration and test activities. The position requires expertise in translating customer needs into technical solutions while balancing cost, schedule, and risk. Essential skills include experience with DOORS, Model Based Systems Engineering, and Open Systems Architecture. The role specifically addresses the development of mission-critical electronic hardware and integrated avionics systems designed to support U.S. and allied warfighters in defense environments.
Lead systems engineering execution for complex avionics and electronic subsystem development programs.
Guide cross-functional teams through the full product lifecycle from concept to sustainment.
Translate customer needs into system solutions balancing performance, cost, schedule, and risk.
Manage system, hardware, and software requirements including interface definition and traceability.
Direct technical planning, trade studies, and risk management to resolve complex engineering challenges.
Oversee system integration, verification, validation, and discrepancy resolution activities.
Provide technical leadership during customer engagements, design reviews, and proposal development.
Mentor engineers to strengthen systems engineering discipline and technical depth across the organization.
What we're looking for
Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience.
Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience.
Minimum of 13 years of prior related experience in lieu of a degree.
Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance.
Master’s degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline (preferred).
Experience in systems engineering for complex avionics, electronics, or mission system development programs (preferred).
Experience leading technical execution across the full product lifecycle, including requirements, architecture, integration, verification, validation, and sustainment (preferred).
