The Lead, Systems Engineer serves as the primary engineering interface for Customer Platforms to support mission-critical communications capabilities. This role leads complex, cross-functional efforts including operational support, flight test, software releases, system integration, verification, configuration management, and obsolescence management. The individual will manage technical risks, coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors, and lead investigations into customer-reported issues while ensuring products meet contractual requirements. Key responsibilities include leading Technical Interchange Meetings, managing DMSMS efforts, and developing artifacts like interface control documents and risk registers. Candidates must possess expertise in systems engineering, requirement management, and verification. The role requires proficiency in tools such as DOORS, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Visio. This position addresses the technical challenges of sustaining airborne, space, ground, tactical, satellite, or line-of-sight communications systems within a defense context.
Serve as the primary engineering point of contact for assigned Customer Platforms.
Lead technical meetings and briefings with customers, program leadership, and subcontractors to resolve issues.
Coordinate cross-functional teams to investigate, prioritize, and resolve customer-reported operational problems.
Plan and support flight tests, system integrations, and verification events at customer locations.
Manage software releases by assessing requirements, analyzing impacts, and coordinating deployment activities.
Lead DMSMS and obsolescence efforts to develop cost-effective mitigation plans for fielded systems.
Develop and maintain technical artifacts including requirements, interface documents, test plans, and risk registers.
Provide technical leadership across engineering disciplines to ensure quality and compliance with program processes.
What we're looking for
Bachelor's degree and 9 years of experience in a technical field, or a graduate degree and 7 years of experience.
Minimum of 13 years of related experience in lieu of a degree.
Ability to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Government DoD Top Secret security clearance.
Experience leading complex systems engineering, integration, verification, sustainment, or lifecycle-support efforts with minimal oversight (preferred).
Experience serving as a technical interface with military customers, platform operators, or operational users (preferred).
Experience supporting airborne, space, ground, tactical, satellite, or line-of-sight communications systems (preferred).
Experience with fielded-system sustainment, software release management, DMSMS, and configuration management (preferred).
