Lead Software Engineer

What you'll do

• Develop and modernize production-grade Java and Spring Boot applications for alternative investment platforms.
• Re-platform critical applications from on-premises environments to AWS cloud-native services.
• Design and implement distributed integration patterns using messaging and event streaming services like Kafka.
• Lead the adoption and governance of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development tools for coding and testing.
• Establish validation standards for AI outputs to ensure security, performance, and correctness.
• Review and debug production code while providing technical direction to internal teams and vendors.
• Drive technical decisions regarding product design, application functionality, and operational processes.
• Advocate for firmwide software development life cycle frameworks and engineering best practices.

What we're looking for

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years of applied experience.
• Proven hands-on experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability in production environments.
• Advanced proficiency in Java for enterprise backend development with practical experience building services using Spring Boot.
• Hands-on experience designing and operating integrations using messaging and event streaming services like Kafka, AWS MSK, SQS/SNS, or Kinesis.
• Practical, hands-on cloud-native experience, specifically building and operating services in an AWS environment.
• Demonstrated experience leading the use of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools and coaching others on compliant usage.
• Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity and security expectations.
• Reactive programming experience (e.g., Reactor) and financial services or alternatives domain experience (preferred).
