As a Lead Software Engineer- React/UI Lead within the CONSUMER & COMMUNITY BANKING team, you will serve as a core technical contributor in an agile environment. You are responsible for developing secure, high-quality production code, conducting critical technology solutions, and providing technical guidance to teams, contractors, and vendors. Your daily work involves driving the adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality and delivery speed. You will build and debug user interfaces using React and TypeScript while ensuring application resiliency and scalability. Key skills include proficiency in the Software Development Life Cycle, CI/CD, and automated testing tools like Cypress and React Testing Library. You will also design scalable RESTful APIs and solve complex problems within the financial services industry's IT systems.

What you'll do

Develop secure, high-quality production code and perform code reviews and debugging for other team members.
Drive the adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality and delivery speed.
Establish consistent validation standards for secure coding, peer reviews, and automated testing.
Influence product design, application functionality, and technical operations through key architectural decisions.
Serve as a function-wide subject matter expert in specific technical areas of focus.
Design and develop scalable, reusable RESTful APIs in collaboration with backend technology teams.
Build and maintain user interfaces using React and TypeScript with an emphasis on scalability and performance.
Advocate for firmwide frameworks, tools, and Software Development Life Cycle practices within the engineering community.

What we're looking for

Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years of applied experience.
Demonstrated experience leading the use of approved AI-assisted software development tools and setting validation standards.
Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity and secure handling of inputs/outputs.
Significant commercial experience developing UIs with hands-on applied experience in React.
Highly competent at React with TypeScript with an emphasis on scalability and performance.
Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
Advanced proficiency in one or more programming languages and all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle.
Proficiency in automation, continuous delivery methods, agile methodologies, and cloud native experience.
In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and their IT systems.
Experience developing, debugging, and automated testing (e.g. react testing library / cypress) within a commercial setting.
Experience collaborating with backend technology teams in designing scalable and reusable RESTful APIs.
Exposure to agentic AI (preferred).
