As a Lead Software Engineer - Java- Front Office within the Commercial & Investment Bank, you will design, develop, and troubleshoot complex software solutions while breaking down technical problems using non-conventional approaches. The role requires expertise in Java, Spring, Hibernate, JAXB, REST Web Services, Python, and Unix shell scripting. You will work with Oracle databases, AWS cloud environments, and microservices architecture. Additional technical competencies include multi-threaded programming, memory management, object-oriented design, and experience with Apache Arrow, Pandas, Rust, Parquet, and Agentic AI development to solve complex financial technology challenges.

What you'll do

Design, develop, and troubleshoot creative software solutions for complex technical problems.
Write secure, high-quality production code while reviewing and debugging peer contributions.
Drive team adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices to improve delivery speed and quality.
Establish validation standards for AI-generated outputs including security, performance, and automated testing.
Identify and automate the remediation of recurring issues to improve system operational stability.
Lead evaluation sessions with vendors and internal teams to assess architectural designs and technical feasibility.
Lead communities of practice to promote awareness and adoption of leading-edge technologies.

What we're looking for

Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and/or Math.
5+ years of Python or Java application development experience including Spring, Hibernate, JAXB, and REST Web Services.
5+ years of Microservices and AWS cloud development experience.
5+ years of relational database development (Oracle) and Object-Oriented databases.
Demonstrated experience leading the use of approved AI-assisted software development tools while ensuring security and performance standards.
Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity and secure handling of inputs/outputs.
Knowledge of multi-threaded programming, memory management, and Unix shell scripting.
Experience with Python, Apache Arrow, Pandas, Rust, Parquet, open source projects, Agentic AI Development, or JPMC internal Athena tool (preferred).
