Lead Software Engineer, Java Backend

What you'll do

• Design, develop, and troubleshoot creative software solutions to solve complex technical problems.
• Write secure production code and perform code reviews and debugging for other team members.
• Identify and automate the remediation of recurring issues to improve system operational stability.
• Lead evaluation sessions with vendors and internal teams to assess architectural designs and technical credentials.
• Drive team adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices for code review and testing.
• Lead communities of practice to promote the adoption of leading-edge software engineering technologies.
• Apply SDLC toolchain knowledge and automation capabilities to improve overall development value.

What we're looking for

• Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts with eight or more years of applied experience.
• Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
• Advanced proficiency in programming languages and tools including Java, Spring, AWS, Kubernetes, Kafka, MQ, Cassandra, Oracle, Spark, and Jenkins.
• Proficiency in automation, continuous delivery methods, and all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle.
• Advanced understanding of agile methodologies, including continuous integration, delivery, application resiliency, and security.
• Demonstrated experience leading the use of enterprise-authorized, AI-assisted software development tools and coaching engineers on responsible AI use.
• Experience with distributed platforms such as AWS Elastic MapReduce and Apache Spark (preferred).
• Experience with behavior-driven development using Cucumber and continuous integration using Jenkins and Spinnaker (preferred).
