Lead Software Engineer, Financial Markets

What you'll do

• Lead the design and development of low-latency, high-availability Python applications for real-time risk and PnL.
• Translate business requirements from traders and stakeholders into reliable technical solutions.
• Own architecture and design artifacts to ensure performance, throughput, and availability for complex systems.
• Develop secure, high-quality production code with a focus on correctness and operational stability.
• Build and improve monitoring, alerting, and operational runbooks for incident management.
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers through code reviews and technical guidance.
• Identify and remediate systemic issues such as technical debt and performance bottlenecks.
• Collaborate with DevOps partners to improve CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.

What we're looking for

• Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts.
• 5+ years of experience coding in Java or Python for production services and performance-sensitive applications.
• Financial markets background including Rates products, risk, PnL, market data, and trade lifecycle.
• Experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability leading complex technical initiatives.
• Strong understanding of real-time/distributed system concepts like concurrency, messaging, caching, and failure modes.
• Experience delivering software in a large corporate environment with high standards for testing, code quality, security, and SDLC.
• Practical experience with CI/CD, application resiliency, production monitoring, and incident response.
• Proven ability to lead technical design discussions, mentor engineers, and partner with business stakeholders.
• Exposure to Deephaven or similar real-time analytics platforms (preferred).
• Experience with DevOps practices for low-latency services (preferred).
• Understanding of UI programming and collaborating across UI/backend boundaries (preferred).
• Familiarity with Java and mixed-language environments where Python interacts with JVM components (preferred).
• Experience with event-driven architectures and high-performance data pipelines in front-office systems (preferred).
