As a Lead Software Engineer – Cloud AWS Resiliency within the Deposits Platform team, you will serve as a core technical contributor focused on building secure, stable, and scalable technology products. You will lead end-to-end disaster recovery tests, develop overarching resiliency frameworks, and define critical RTO and RPO metrics for product components. Your daily work involves automating provisioning and monitoring using Terraform, executing chaos engineering scenarios with AWS Fault Injection Service and Resilience Hub, and establishing technical runbooks to ensure compliance. You will also drive the adoption of AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality and delivery speed. The role requires expertise in Python, Go, or Bash, along with experience in AWS architectures like Elastic Disaster Recovery and multi-region deployments. You will solve complex problems regarding application resilience and infrastructure automation within a financial services context.
Lead and coordinate end-to-end disaster recovery tests and real-time failover events across all product applications.
Develop and maintain overarching resiliency frameworks for development and infrastructure teams to use as automated offerings.
Define, monitor, and report on Recovery Time Objectives (RTO) and Recovery Point Objectives (RPO) for all components.
Automate disaster recovery provisioning, scaling, and monitoring using Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform.
Execute chaos engineering scenarios using AWS Fault Injection Service to identify vulnerabilities before they impact production.
Create and maintain technical DR playbooks and recovery runbooks with detailed sequence mapping and dependencies.
Collect and report on DR test artifacts and maturity scores to ensure compliance with internal and regulatory standards.
Drive the adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality and delivery speed.
What we're looking for
Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and 5+ years of applied experience.
Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
Experience with AWS cloud architectures, including DR-enabling services like Elastic Disaster Recovery and multi-AZ/multi-region deployments.
Proficiency in at least one modern language (Python, Go, or Bash) and familiarity with IaC tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
5+ years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering, Disaster Recovery Planning, or Distributed Systems Engineering.
Demonstrated experience leading the use of approved AI-assisted software development tools while ensuring output correctness, performance, and security.
Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity and secure handling of inputs/outputs.
Advanced understanding of agile methodologies, CI/CD, application resiliency, and security; knowledge of financial services is preferred (preferred).
