What you'll do

Design and deliver distributed, event-driven back-end services using Java, Kafka, and AWS.
Establish architectural standards for scalability, reliability, and observability across all backend services.
Translate product requirements into resilient technical designs and executable development roadmaps.
Improve engineering quality through CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and rigorous code reviews.
Manage production operations including monitoring, incident response, and root-cause analysis for critical systems.

Mentor engineers through technical guidance, pair programming, and formal design reviews.

What we're looking for

Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts.
5+ years of applied experience in software engineering.
Expert proficiency in Java 17+, including concurrency, collections, and performance tuning.
Hands-on experience building and operating distributed systems with Apache Kafka.
Strong AWS experience and infrastructure-as-code skills using Terraform or CloudFormation.
Proven experience implementing CI/CD, automated testing, and safe deployment strategies.
Experience leading projects, teams, and setting technical direction for complex production systems.
Experience working in Agile or Scrum environments.
