As a Lead Software Engineer - Apache Cassandra within the Infrastructure Platforms team, you will join an experienced engineering group to manage one of the largest internal database platforms in the world. You will be responsible for the full software lifecycle, including design, implementation, and delivery of automation and self-service tooling for Cassandra across both private and public clouds. Your daily work involves building frameworks to increase developer velocity, improving code health, and integrating enterprise-authorized AI capabilities into infrastructure architecture analysis and automation routines. The role requires expertise in Java, Python, Spring Framework, Spring-Boot, SaltStack, and Ansible within Unix/Linux environments. You will solve complex problems related to Database Reliability Engineering while ensuring all systems meet strict security and auditability standards for critical internal systems using distributed and parallel systems.
Provide technical expertise throughout the entire software lifecycle including design, implementation, and delivery.
Develop automation and self-service tooling for Cassandra across private and public cloud environments.
Build frameworks to increase developer velocity while improving code health and technical standards.
Deliver a consumer-driven Cassandra platform tailored for critical internal systems.
Integrate enterprise-authorized AI capabilities to accelerate infrastructure architecture analysis and option evaluation.
Implement AI-assisted practices in delivery and automation routines to reduce recurring issues at scale.
Ensure all automated changes are validated, traceable, auditable, and aligned with security requirements.
What we're looking for
Formal training or certification on infrastructure engineering concepts and 5+ years of applied experience.
Understanding of cloud, virtualization, APIs, and modern software languages.
Software development experience in one or more languages including Java, Python, Spring Framework, and Spring Boot.
Advanced experience with at least two of: web apps, databases, Unix/Linux, distributed systems, information retrieval, networking, or large-scale software.
Experience with automation and configuration management tools such as SaltStack and Ansible.
Demonstrated experience using enterprise-authorized AI capabilities for infrastructure engineering workflows while ensuring security and auditability.
Knowledge of Database Reliability Engineering (DBRE) concepts and agile/lean philosophies.
Experience in UI/UX development, open-source contributions, or DynamoDB optimization (preferred).
