Lead, Project Engineer
The Lead, Project Engineer joins the engineering team to support the bid and execution of complex system integration efforts on airborne platforms. This role involves managing program activities, ensuring lifecycle process adherence, and overseeing risk management while serving as the primary technical interface for customers. The individual will lead cross-functional teams through design reviews, manage aircraft integrity programs including structural and propulsion systems, and oversee the development of technical manuals. Responsibilities include developing project plans, work breakdown structures, and budget forecasts while tracking performance metrics to report to senior leadership. The candidate must possess expertise in aero, software, hardware, or systems engineering. Key skills required include bid and proposal development, technical volume responses, and experience resolving complex engineering issues, root cause investigations, and nonconformances within the aerospace and defense domain.
Manage complex system integration projects to meet technical, cost, and schedule requirements.
Lead cross-functional engineering teams to resolve design challenges and root cause investigations.
Serve as the primary technical point of contact for customers throughout the program lifecycle.
Develop and manage project plans, work breakdown structures, budgets, and resource forecasts.
Oversee aircraft integrity programs including structural, mechanical, and propulsion systems.
Lead formal design reviews and technical interchange meetings with internal stakeholders and suppliers.
Support new business capture by developing bid estimates and technical responses for RFPs.
Track engineering performance metrics and report program status to senior leadership.
What we're looking for
Bachelor's degree and minimum 9 years of relevant experience, a graduate degree and 7 years of experience, or 13 years of experience without a degree.
Active DoD Secret Security Clearance and U.S. Citizenship.
Demonstrated experience in program planning, guidance, and engineering execution within scope, schedule, and budget.
Demonstrated experience understanding of engineering processes and policies.
Demonstrated experience in Bid and Proposal development.
Experience in Aero Engineering, Software/Hardware Engineering, Systems Engineering, or Project Engineering.
Ability to travel as needed based on business demands.
Experience in leadership roles such as Task Leader, IPT Leader, or Functional Manager (preferred); experience communicating with internal and external stakeholders (preferred).
