As a Lead Principal Platform Software Engineer, you will join the team responsible for Merino, the internal CI/CD change workflow platform for Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. You will lead the design, implementation, and operation of core platform capabilities to orchestrate build, validation, change management, and deployment workflows at scale. Your daily work involves owning architecture, ensuring operational readiness, and improving developer experience while solving complex problems related to release safety and scalability. The role requires proficiency in Java, TypeScript, Python, or Go, alongside experience with distributed systems, infrastructure automation, containers, and orchestration. You will also champion AI-assisted coding workflows using tools like Claude Code, Codex, or Cursor. This position addresses the critical challenge of managing large-scale production deployments and ensuring reliable software delivery within a complex cloud infrastructure environment.
Lead the design, implementation, and operation of core CI/CD and change workflow orchestration capabilities.
Own the full lifecycle of platform features including architecture, testing, deployment, monitoring, and production support.
Improve system reliability, deployment safety, scalability, observability, and overall developer experience.
Design systems integrating build processes, release bundles, change management, approvals, rollbacks, and deployments.
Translate ambiguous platform problems into durable engineering solutions.
Establish high standards for code quality, system design, and operational excellence.
Use production signals and customer feedback to prioritize platform improvements.
Champion the use of AI-assisted and agentic coding workflows while maintaining engineering rigor.
What we're looking for
8+ years of software engineering experience building distributed systems, developer platforms, CI/CD systems, infrastructure automation, or cloud services.
Strong programming skills in Java, TypeScript, Python, Go, or similar languages.
Experience operating reliable cloud services in OCI, AWS, Azure, or GCP.
Experience with CI/CD, DevOps, release automation, IaC, containers, orchestration, or deployment pipelines.
Ability to lead technical initiatives across ambiguity and competing priorities.
Strong communication and stakeholder influence skills.
Experience building internal engineering platforms with a focus on developer experience and reliability (preferred).
Experience with release orchestration, progressive rollout, rollback validation, and large-scale production deployments (preferred).
