Lead Principal Platform Software Engineer

What you'll do

• Drive cross-group platform initiatives such as identity, configuration, and API gateway standards to improve reliability and performance.
• Establish shared observability frameworks, SLOs, and capacity models used by multiple engineering teams.
• Define architectural guardrails, security controls, and reference implementations in partnership with SRE and security teams.
• Design software solutions, write foundational code for prototypes, and lead technical reviews across projects.
• Resolve complex distributed systems problems and implement strategies for API versioning and interoperability.
• Provide expert technical guidance and mentorship to engineers on architecture decisions and best practices.
• Lead the investigation and troubleshooting of high-impact, complex product maintenance issues and defects.
• Develop and implement automated solutions to ensure secure software development and compliance with coding standards.

What we're looking for

• Candidates must have 6 to 10+ years of experience in software engineering or a related field.
• Applicants must be able to read, write, and speak English.
• Experience designing and developing large-scale distributed systems is required.
• Expertise in platform initiatives such as identity management, configuration, and API gateways is required.
• Proficiency in establishing observability frameworks, SLOs, and capacity models for multi-team use is required.
• Ability to implement secure software development practices and manage security controls is required.
• Experience in performance optimization, scalability strategies, and complex troubleshooting of API functionality is required.
• Proven ability to provide technical leadership, mentorship, and coaching to engineers across different teams.
