Lead Principal Platform Software Engineer, AI Acceleration, Developer Tools is a technical leadership role focused on building the architecture and strategy for AI-powered developer experiences. You will leverage expertise in distributed systems, cloud platforms, and large-scale backend systems to create durable platform abstractions. The role requires navigating the ambiguity of rapidly evolving AI capabilities to establish technical direction, influence cross-functional stakeholders, and develop measurable metrics to ensure that integrated AI features provide tangible improvements to developer productivity.

What you'll do

Build the architecture and technical strategy for AI acceleration across developer tools and platforms.
Develop prototypes and evaluate emerging LLM, agentic, and reasoning technologies to determine production viability.
Create architectural direction by translating complex AI capabilities into actionable engineering requirements.
Influence cross-functional teams to build consensus on high-impact technical decisions without direct authority.
Design scalable systems for AI agents, retrieval, orchestration, and automated developer workflows.
Establish a disciplined pipeline to move experimental AI features into secure, reliable, and cost-efficient production services.
Measure the impact of AI on developer productivity using telemetry, evaluation frameworks, and user feedback.
Define engineering standards and provide technical mentorship to raise the bar for AI development.

What we're looking for

12+ years of software engineering experience architecting complex production systems and providing technical leadership across multiple teams.
Strong foundation in distributed systems, cloud platforms, developer infrastructure, or large-scale backend systems.
Experience applying or evaluating LLMs, generative AI, AI agents, or related technologies for production systems.
Proven ability to experiment in ambiguous environments by building prototypes and translating results into technical direction.
Demonstrated ability to influence architecture and engineering strategy across teams without direct authority.
Experience moving new technologies from exploration and proof-of-concept through production deployment and scale.
BS or MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
Experience building AI-powered developer tools, coding agents, or intelligent testing systems (preferred).
