The position addresses the technical challenge of scaling high-reliability hardware from prototype to production for space-grade applications, ensuring rigorous workmanship standards across navigation, communication, and sensor packages within a fast-paced environment.

What you'll do

  • Develop and document manufacturing processes for PCBAs and electronic assemblies to space-grade workmanship standards.
  • Manage production processes for sensor packages including optical trains, star trackers, and infrared systems.
  • Oversee the assembly and calibration of navigation, radar, and communication systems across multiple frequency bands.
  • Lead power system manufacturing including distribution assemblies, cable routing, bonding, and grounding.
  • Serve as the primary technical interface to manage relationships and drive improvements with internal partners and external vendors.
  • Drive Design for Manufacturability (DfM) and use statistical process control to reduce production test burdens.
  • Specify and qualify assembly tooling, fixtures, and test equipment while performing root cause analysis and PFMEA.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership to technicians during the production ramp.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 8+ years of manufacturing engineering experience in aerospace, space, defense, or another high-reliability industry.
  • Deep knowledge of high-reliability electronics workmanship standards including IPC-610/620 Class 3, IPC J-STD-001 Space Addendum, and NASA-STD-8739 series.
  • Expert understanding of PCBA processes and box-level assembly including cabling, harnessing, thermal, and EMI/EMC.
  • Hands-on depth in at least two areas: electro-optical/infrared sensor assembly, RF/radar assembly, navigation units, or power distribution and harness manufacture.
  • Proven expertise in root cause analysis (8D, 5-Why, Fishbone), PFMEA, corrective actions, process validation, and first article inspection.
  • Must currently possess and be able to maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
  • Experience with satellite/spacecraft avionics, radar/optical sensor manufacturing, or high-volume production of 100+ units per year (preferred).
