As a Lead Infrastructure Engineer within the Enterprise Technology Compute Infrastructure Platforms team, you will design, engineer, and operate an on-premises OpenShift-based platform hosting both containers and virtual machines. You will own the underlying infrastructure, including cluster foundations, compute, hypervisors, operating systems, networking, storage, and security controls to enable product teams to deploy workloads safely. Your daily work involves building and operating clusters, managing VM lifecycles using OpenShift Virtualization or KubeVirt, and performing capacity planning and performance management. You will utilize Linux fundamentals, RHEL/CoreOS concepts, and networking protocols like DNS and load balancing. Key technologies include Kubernetes, Ansible, Terraform, GitOps, and Prometheus/Grafana. You will also integrate enterprise-authorized AI capabilities to accelerate infrastructure analysis while ensuring all outputs remain traceable, auditable, and secure.

What you'll do

Design OpenShift cluster architectures to meet availability, scalability, security, and operability requirements.
Build and operate OpenShift clusters including installation, patching, scaling, and resilience testing.
Engineer the platform to support both Kubernetes and VM workloads with capacity planning and HA/DR considerations.
Manage Linux platform fundamentals including kernel tuning, certificates, and identity integration for cluster operations.
Implement and troubleshoot core networking capabilities such as routing, DNS, load balancing, and firewalling.
Integrate storage services for container and VM workloads using CSI drivers and backup/restore approaches.
Drive reliability practices including observability, incident response, and root-cause analysis across the platform lifecycle.
Develop runbooks, standards, and reference architectures while leading operational readiness reviews.

What we're looking for

Formal training or certification on infrastructure engineering concepts and 5+ years of applied experience.
Hands-on administration of Red Hat OpenShift and Kubernetes in production environments.
Experience operating Kubernetes/container platforms through day-2 operations including upgrades, scaling, and troubleshooting.
Experience with OpenShift Virtualization / KubeVirt or equivalent VM-on-Kubernetes and VM/container co-tenancy design.
Strong Linux administration and troubleshooting experience including system performance and OS configuration.
Demonstrated troubleshooting depth in at least two of the following domains: networking, storage, or virtualization.
Experience designing and operating highly available platforms with capacity management and incident handling.
Experience implementing infrastructure automation and configuration-as-code practices like Ansible, Terraform, or GitOps.
Experience partnering with security/compliance stakeholders on hardening, RBAC, and vulnerability management.
Demonstrated experience using enterprise-authorized AI capabilities to support infrastructure engineering workflows.
Familiarity with OpenShift observability stacks such as Prometheus and Grafana (preferred).
Experience with service mesh, ingress controllers, or platform networking plugins (preferred).
Experience with enterprise storage technologies in containerized environments (preferred).
Familiarity using generative AI tools to accelerate research and documentation workflows (preferred).
