As the Lead Hardware Engineer, you will lead a team of five to seven engineers in guiding multiple electrical subsystems from initial concept through final installation. Your daily work involves managing design verification, qualification testing, and full integration across electrical, systems, and mechanical disciplines within a defense environment. You will utilize skills in electronics design, assembly, and hardware architecture to develop secure, scalable solutions. Preferred technical competencies include knowledge of networking, cybersecurity principles, encryption algorithms, secure boot, and trusted platform architectures. This position focuses on introducing innovative capabilities into existing systems through a risk-based approach to complex, multi-discipline programs.

What you'll do

  • Guide multiple electrical subsystems from initial concept through final installation.
  • Lead technical discussions regarding architecture, requirements, and hardware component selection.
  • Oversee the design of PCB, FPGA, and network infrastructure components.
  • Manage verification, qualification testing, and full integration across electrical, systems, and mechanical disciplines.
  • Lead a team of 5-7 engineers across complex, concurrent electrical hardware projects.
  • Analyze circuit card schematics within networked and cyber-resilient environments.
  • Ensure all hardware development adheres to established schedule and budget constraints.
  • Identify opportunities to apply AI for continuous improvement and innovation in design processes.

What we're looking for

  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • A Secret security clearance must be obtainable within a reasonable amount of time after hire.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field and at least 8 years of relevant experience are required.
  • A Master's degree and at least 6 years of relevant experience are acceptable alternatives to the Bachelor's requirement.
  • Candidates must have advanced proficiency in testing, troubleshooting, and analyzing circuit card schematics within networked environments.
  • Experience with R&D and staying ahead of technology trends is preferred.
  • Preferred knowledge includes networking, cybersecurity principles, encryption algorithms, secure boot, and trusted platform architectures.
  • Demonstrated success leading a team of 5-7 engineers across complex projects is required.
