Lead Environmental Health & Safety Engineer, Safety Engineering joins the Safety Engineering team to lead day-to-day activities, performance management, and hiring for engineers specializing in Industrial Hygiene, Ergonomics, Equipment Safety, and Process Safety. This role involves managing operational budgets, developing engineering-based solutions to reduce incident rates, and providing technical guidance on risk management tools like process hazard analyses and job hazard analyses. The individual will conduct compliance audits, industrial hygiene surveys, and ergonomic evaluations while ensuring safety-in-design requirements are integrated into the equipment lifecycle. Key competencies include interpreting OSHA, ANSI, and NFPA standards, reviewing engineering drawings, and managing multi-site programs in high-risk manufacturing environments. Required skills include proficiency in Microsoft Office and expertise in machine guarding, hazard analysis, and industrial hygiene monitoring to solve complex safety challenges within a technical manufacturing context.
Manage day-to-day activities, performance management, and hiring processes for the EHS Safety Engineering team.
Oversee operational budgets for Industrial Hygiene, Ergonomics, Equipment Safety, and Process Safety programs.
Develop engineering-based solutions to improve workplace safety and reduce incident and exposure rates.
Interpret new safety rules and regulations to provide technical guidance to management and engineering teams.
Provide training and coaching on risk management tools like PHAs, JHAs, and industrial hygiene assessments.
Conduct compliance audits, risk assessments, and ergonomic evaluations across various manufacturing sites.
Lead the development of safety-in-design specifications for existing and future equipment throughout their lifecycle.
What we're looking for
5+ years of experience in the design, development, and operational oversight of environmental, health, and safety programs with an emphasis on safety engineering.
3+ years leadership experience managing technical/engineering teams.
Must be a U.S. citizen, national, lawful permanent resident, or eligible for required export control authorizations.
Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Ergonomics, Chemical/Mechanical Engineering, or related field (preferred).
Experience leading multi-site or multi-discipline safety engineering programs in high-risk or complex industrial environments (preferred).
Knowledge of interpreting and applying federal, state, and local occupational safety regulations such as OSHA, ANSI, NFPA, and RIA (preferred).
Professional certifications such as CSP, CIH, CPE, or equivalent (preferred).
