Lead Engineer, Tax Technology

What you'll do

• Set the technical direction and own the architecture for Tax applications and services.
• Own capabilities end-to-end from initial design and implementation through testing and production support.
• Design scalable, resilient, and secure solutions for applications, integrations, and data flows.
• Lead the modernization of existing systems to improve performance, reliability, and production stability.
• Evaluate new technologies and lead proofs of concept, architecture reviews, and code reviews.
• Partner with Tax, Finance, and Product teams to align technical decisions with business and compliance needs.
• Mentor engineers and share best practices to grow engineering and domain knowledge across the team.

What we're looking for

• 4-year degree or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years of software development experience with at least one full cycle implementation.
• Experience designing highly scalable distributed systems and event-driven architectures.
• Strong understanding of application architecture, system design, distributed programming, data structures, and modern engineering practices.
• Experience providing technical leadership across complex applications, integrations, and data flows.
• Experience integrating packaged or third-party solutions with enterprise applications.
• Ability to mentor engineers, establish engineering best practices, and drive engineering excellence.
• Familiarity with enterprise tax platforms such as Vertex or similar technologies (preferred); front-end experience with React and Redux (preferred).
