Lead, Electro-Optical (EO) Systems Engineer joins the AgileEO Systems Engineering department to support a program focused on space-based, small aperture visible and IR telescopes with integrated electromechanical devices for motion and focus control. This role involves performing technical analysis, managing specifications, and generating design review documents while supporting test and design verification, requirements sell off, and end item data package generation. The engineer will conduct modeling and simulation to predict performance, perform trade studies, and provide leadership in architecture development and verification. Key responsibilities include coordinating multidisciplinary teams and mentoring junior engineers. Required expertise includes electro-optics, optical design, sensors, detectors, and imaging systems. Technical skills involve using MATLAB and potentially MBSE tools like DOORs, CAMEO, CREO, JIRA, and SysML to solve complex engineering challenges within the space systems domain.
Develop and integrate advanced electro-optical systems for space-based applications while ensuring compliance with mission requirements.
Manage system and sub-system level requirements to ensure traceability and compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
Conduct modeling and simulation activities to predict system performance under various operational scenarios.
Lead multidisciplinary engineering teams from conceptual design through final system delivery and operation.
Generate technical documentation including system specifications, design descriptions, test plans, and test reports.
Translate customer requirements into system-level requirements and evaluate alternative solutions for preliminary designs.
Perform trade studies to support decision-making processes and solve problems using logical engineering thought processes.
Provide training and mentorship to junior engineers to foster professional growth within the team.
What we're looking for
Must have a Bachelor's degree and 9 years of space-based EO/IR systems engineering experience, a Master's with 7 years, or 13 years of experience without a degree.
Experience as a Control Account Manager (CAM) and Integrated Product Team Lead (IPTL) is required.
Must have at least 4 years of experience in electro-optics, including optical design, sensors, detectors, and imaging systems.
Must have at least 4 years of experience working with engineering and simulation software tools like MATLAB.
Candidate must be able to obtain a DOD Secret security clearance.
Active Secret or Top Secret/SCI clearance (preferred).
Experience with space systems engineering, including knowledge of space environments, satellite systems, and mission design (preferred).
