The Scientist, Systems Engineering (Chief Systems Engineer) leads concept of operation development, requirements analysis, and decomposition across various system levels. This role involves leading requirements traceability, developing test plans, executing design trades, and leading design reviews like PDR and CDR. The position requires leading integration and test for electro-optical/infrared systems and related hardware/software while supporting data analysis, modeling, and simulation. Key responsibilities include evaluating customer needs to define performance requirements, mitigating program risk, and mentoring junior engineers. Candidates must possess experience with DOORS and MBSE software such as CAMEO and MagicDraw. The work focuses on large space programs across the full system lifecycle, specifically involving space payloads, spacecraft bus, ground systems, and environmental testing within the aerospace and defense sectors.
Lead concept of operation development and requirements analysis across various system levels.
Manage requirements traceability and develop comprehensive test plans to cover all requirements.
Execute design trades to support critical technical decisions.
Lead formal design reviews including Preliminary Design Review (PDR) and Critical Design Review (CDR).
Lead the integration and testing of electro-optical/infrared systems and related hardware/software.
Support and lead data analysis, modeling, and simulation activities.
Evaluate customer needs to define system performance requirements and ensure interface compatibility.
Evaluate and mitigate technical and program risks.
What we're looking for
Bachelor’s Degree and 15 years of relevant experience, a Graduate Degree and 13 years of related experience, or 19 years of experience without a degree.
Active US Government Secret Security Clearance.
Experience generating and managing requirements at various system levels and flowing them down to sub-systems and sub-components.
Experience using DOORS and/or MBSE software such as CAMEO and MagicDraw.
Experience leading large space programs across the full system lifecycle.
Experience working on aerospace/defense systems including space payloads, spacecraft bus, ground systems, and environmental testing.
Technical expertise in Electrical, Mechanical, Optical, or an equivalent engineering discipline (preferred).
