What you'll do

Build and modernize systems that support medical device review for a federal public health agency.
Develop production-ready solutions using modern architectures, frameworks, and agile practices.
Create responsive and accessible user interfaces using modern JavaScript frameworks like React, Vue, or Angular.
Design and optimize databases using SQL with Oracle or PostgreSQL.
Develop migration strategies to transition legacy Java technologies to modern frameworks.
Provide production support and resolve technical issues for existing systems.
Deploy applications using containerization tools like Docker and Kubernetes within CI/CD pipelines.
Evaluate emerging tools and techniques to recommend system improvements and ensure long-term scalability.

What we're looking for

Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability/Fitness determination.
8+ years of experience in software development.
6+ years of experience with Java, including Spring Boot, Hibernate, JPA, or RESTful web services.
3+ years of experience with modern JavaScript frameworks like React.js, Vue, or Angular.js for responsive and accessible UI development.
Experience with database design, SQL optimization (Oracle/PostgreSQL), legacy Java migration, production support, and containerization/cloud tools.
Experience using an AI-IDE such as Claude Code or Cursor.
Experience with Atlassian Suite, automated testing frameworks, stored procedures, or federal health agencies (preferred).
Bachelor's degree.
