What you'll do

Build and modernize systems that support medical device review for a federal public health agency.
Develop production-ready solutions using Java, Spring Boot, Hibernate, and RESTful web services.
Create responsive and accessible user interfaces using modern JavaScript frameworks like React, Vue, or Angular.
Design and optimize database schemas and performance using SQL, Oracle, or PostgreSQL.
Develop migration strategies to transition legacy J2EE, JSP, or Servlet systems to modern frameworks.
Provide production support and resolve technical issues for existing systems.
Deploy applications using containerization tools like Docker and Kubernetes within CI/CD pipelines.
Evaluate emerging tools and techniques to recommend system improvements and ensure long-term scalability.

What we're looking for

Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability/Fitness determination.
8+ years of experience in software development.
6+ years of experience with Java, including Spring Boot, Hibernate, JPA, or RESTful web services.
3+ years of experience with a modern JavaScript framework like React.js, Vue, or Angular.js for responsive and accessible UI development.
Experience with database design, SQL optimization (Oracle/PostgreSQL), and legacy Java technologies (J2EE, JSP, Servlets).
Knowledge of containerization, cloud deployment (AWS/Azure), and DevOps tools including Git, CI/CD, and Jenkins.
Experience with AI-IDEs like Claude Code or Cursor; experience with Atlassian Suite, automated testing frameworks, and federal health agencies (preferred).
Bachelor's degree.
