As a Java AI Mortgage Lead Software Engineer, you will join the Consumer & Community Banking Mortgage Technology team as a core technical contributor. Your daily responsibilities include conducting technical solutions across business functions, performing code reviews, and identifying automation opportunities to enhance operational stability. You will utilize a technical stack including Java Full Stack with React or Angular, AWS, and Python. The role requires expertise in the Software Development Life Cycle, CI/CD, and application resiliency. You will solve complex technical problems within the financial services industry, specifically focusing on secure, scalable mortgage technology and responsible AI integration.

What you'll do

Develop secure, high-quality production code and perform code reviews and debugging for other team members.
Design and execute creative software solutions to solve complex technical problems beyond conventional approaches.
Drive team adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality and delivery speed.
Establish consistent validation standards for secure coding, peer reviews, and automated testing.
Utilize Software Development Life Cycle tools and automation capabilities to improve development value.
Identify and automate the remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability.
Lead evaluation sessions with external vendors and internal teams to assess architectural designs and technical credentials.

What we're looking for

Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years of applied experience.
Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
Strong experience in Java Full Stack with React or Angular.
Strong experience in AWS.
Demonstrated experience leading the use of approved AI-assisted software development tools and setting validation standards.
Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity and security.
Proficiency in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle.
Advanced understanding of agile methodologies, CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security.
In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and their IT systems.
Leadership experience with varying levels of Software Engineers.
Python coding experience (preferred).
Mortgage industry technology experience (preferred).
