As a Lead Software Engineer within the Commercial & Investment Bank, you will join an agile team to build and deliver trusted market-leading technology products. You will serve as a core technical contributor responsible for designing, developing, and troubleshooting creative software solutions across various business functions. You will also lead evaluations of external vendors and startups regarding architectural designs. This role requires deep knowledge of financial services IT systems to solve complex technical problems while ensuring responsible AI use and data sensitivity.

What you'll do

Design, develop, and troubleshoot creative software solutions for complex technical problems.
Write secure, high-quality production code and perform code reviews and debugging for others.
Drive team adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality and delivery speed.
Establish consistent validation standards for secure coding, peer reviews, and automated testing.
Apply SDLC toolchain knowledge to improve the value realized by automation.
Identify and automate the remediation of recurring issues to improve operational stability.
Lead evaluation sessions with external vendors and internal teams to probe architectural designs and technical credentials.

What we're looking for

Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years of applied experience.
Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
Advanced proficiency in one or more programming languages, specifically Python or Java.
Demonstrated experience leading the use of approved AI-assisted software development tools for coding, review, and troubleshooting.
Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity and secure handling of inputs/outputs.
Proficiency in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle.
Advanced understanding of agile methodologies, including CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security.
In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and their IT systems.
Experience in Agentic AI, MCP development, and cloud native (preferred).
