The IT Payroll Senior Systems Analyst joins the payroll technology team to support the analysis, enhancement, delivery, and ongoing stability of payroll solutions. This role involves partnering with HR, Finance, and compliance stakeholders to gather business requirements, translate them into functional specifications, and lead cross-functional solution designs. Day-to-day responsibilities include troubleshooting complex system issues, coordinating end-to-end delivery of system changes, performing root cause analysis for production incidents, and managing testing activities. The position requires expertise in payroll business processes, data dependencies, and compliance-sensitive workflows. Candidates should possess experience with enterprise payroll platforms like Workday, ADP, UKG, or SAP, as well as HRIS, timekeeping, and benefits systems. Preferred technical skills include ETL experience with DataStage, Spark, and Python, alongside familiarity with Agile and incident management practices.
Gather and document business requirements for payroll systems, processes, integrations, and reporting from various stakeholders.
Translate business requirements into functional specifications, process flows, user stories, and implementation plans.
Lead solution analysis for payroll enhancements, regulatory changes, defect remediation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Support end-to-end delivery of payroll system changes, including design reviews, testing coordination, and production validation.
Troubleshoot complex payroll system issues and coordinate resolutions with internal technical teams and software vendors.
Coordinate and execute system, integration, user acceptance, and regression testing for payroll-related changes.
Perform root cause analysis for production incidents and recommend preventive actions or durable fixes.
Ensure payroll solutions align with internal controls, audit requirements, security expectations, and compliance obligations.
What we're looking for
Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, Human Resources, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Significant experience supporting payroll systems, enterprise HR technology, or related business applications.
Strong experience in business and systems analysis, requirements gathering, process mapping, and solution documentation.
Experience supporting system enhancements, production support, defect triage, testing, and release activities.
Understanding of payroll business processes, controls, data dependencies, and compliance-sensitive workflows.
Experience working with cross-functional stakeholders, including business teams, technical teams, vendors, and project leaders.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and issue-resolution skills.
Experience with enterprise payroll platforms such as Workday Payroll, ADP, UKG/Kronos, SAP Payroll, or equivalent systems (preferred).
