The Intern, Info Security Systems Engineer joins a team focused on the evaluation, design, and protection of enterprise systems, networks, and security infrastructure. This role involves hands-on experience in cybersecurity engineering practices such as risk identification, policy development, and support for secure systems integration. The intern will perform product evaluations, develop technical assessments, and provide oversight for firewalls, intrusion detection systems, enterprise anti-virus systems, and software deployment tools. Key responsibilities include identifying threats to networks and applications while developing procedures to secure infrastructure. Required competencies include a solid understanding of TCP/IP and routing protocols, along with knowledge of LAN/WAN networking, security infrastructure like IPSec and VPNs, and core security topics including cryptography, authentication, authorization, access control, and business continuity planning to ensure systems align with established security standards.
Assess security infrastructure and network designs to ensure alignment with security standards.
Identify security risks, threats, and vulnerabilities across networks, systems, applications, and new technologies.
Oversee the development, testing, and operation of firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and anti-virus tools.
Develop policies and procedures for securing system infrastructure and applications.
Conduct technical and programmatic assessments to evaluate engineering and integration initiatives.
Perform product evaluations and implement recommended services for network security.
Provide recommendations to clients regarding information assurance engineering standards and emerging technologies.
What we're looking for
Applicants must be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
Must be a U.S. citizen to obtain the required security clearance.
Solid understanding of TCP/IP and routing protocols (preferred).
Knowledge of LAN/WAN networking and security infrastructure such as Firewalls, IDS/IPS, IPSec, and VPNs (preferred).
Knowledge of security topics including Antivirus, Authentication, Authorization, Access Control, Cryptography, SSO, Business Continuity Planning, and Application Security (preferred).
