TL;DR · Integrated Systems Engineer (Payload SW), STAR (System Test Automation and Regression)

As an Integrated Systems Engineer at the STAR team in Amazon Kuiper Manufacturing Enterprises LLC, you will be responsible for owning the requirements and operations of nightly regression test runs for payload software. Your day-to-day tasks include defining comprehensive test requirements based on a deep understanding of signal processing chains, protocol stacks, and fault handling, collaborating with various engineering teams to gather and document test requirements, monitoring nightly run execution, triaging failures, and driving process improvements to enhance the effectiveness of the regression pipeline. The role requires expertise in automated test systems or CI/CD pipelines, experience in scripting for automation such as Python, and knowledge of satellite communication systems and RF lab equipment. You will work at the intersection of software engineering and satellite systems, ensuring that nightly runs are reliable and actionable for engineering decisions every morning.

What you'll do

  • Develop comprehensive test requirements for payload software architecture.
  • Monitor and triage nightly regression runs to distinguish infrastructure issues from real defects.
  • Define and track metrics for nightly run effectiveness, presenting improvement plans to stakeholders.
  • Identify patterns in failures and work with automation engineers to prevent recurrence of systemic issues.
  • Coordinate with test automation engineers to prioritize new test development based on risk and coverage gaps.

What we're looking for

  • 3+ years of experience in systems engineering, test engineering, or integration and test roles.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience working with automated test systems or CI/CD pipelines as a user, operator, or requirements owner.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and understand software at a system level, including code and logs.
  • Experience developing test strategies and plans for complex hardware/software systems.
