Hardware (Power) Engineer As part of the Common Hardware Group Power team, you will develop highly reliable power solutions for networking products ranging from IP phones to high-power data center switches and routers. You will be responsible for all aspects of system power design, including developing and qualifying designs to meet specific product requirements, executing test plans, documenting procedures, and resolving field issues. Your daily work involves performing design reviews of schematics, BOMs, layout, and routing while collaborating with hardware, ASIC, signal integrity, and mechanical teams. You will utilize tools such as Concept, Allegro, LTspice, PSpice, Simplis, Mathcad, PowerDC, SIWave, Ansys, or Hyperlynx. Required skills include experience in power electronics, buck and buck-boost topologies, and circuit simulation. Preferred technical competencies include Python, Labview, C++, and proficiency with oscilloscopes and electronic loads to solve complex analog problems.

What you'll do

  • Develop and qualify reliable system power solutions for networking products ranging from 10W to 3000W+.
  • Manage all design aspects of the system power to meet specific product requirements.
  • Create and execute test plans for upcoming power designs while documenting procedures and specifications.
  • Perform technical design reviews of schematics, bills of materials (BOMs), layout, and routing.
  • Resolve field and product issues related to power for assigned projects.
  • Ensure all hardware engineering initiatives comply with established organizational policies and objectives.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical or computer engineering or power electronics with 5+ years of experience.
  • Master's degree in electrical or computer engineering or power electronics with 3+ years of experience.
  • PhD in electrical or computer engineering or power electronics with 0+ years of experience.
  • Experience with power design, power electronics, or analog design.
  • Experience with power design topologies such as buck and buck-boost for high efficiency.
  • Proficiency with tools including Concept, Allegro, LTspice, PSpice, Simplis, Mathcad, PowerDC, SIWave, Ansys, or Hyperlynx.
  • Knowledge of circuit simulations, system analysis, and designing analog/digital circuits (preferred).
  • Experience with power integrity simulation tools, lab equipment, firmware, mechanical/thermal design, or software like Python, Labview, and C++ (preferred).
