What you'll do

  • Oversee the installation, repair, and troubleshooting of marine machinery on naval vessels according to technical drawings.
  • Manage project planning, contract financials, and scope tracking for shipyard repairs and upgrades.
  • Provide technical direction and guidance to shipyard personnel during propulsion and power generation equipment testing.
  • Perform root cause analysis and develop troubleshooting plans based on engineering principles and control system data.
  • Write technical condition reports and documentation regarding repair progress and required material lists.
  • Design custom tooling, jigs, or equipment as needed to facilitate mechanical repairs.
  • Coordinate with customers and management to communicate project status and resolve technical issues.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor's Degree in STEM with 8+ years relevant experience or Master's Degree in STEM with 5+ years relevant experience.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and schematics.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong critical thinking and customer service skills.
  • Understanding of engineering root cause corrective action analysis.
  • Physical ability to work onboard ships, including climbing steep stairways and vertical ladders.
  • Willingness to travel up to 75% on short notice and work extended hours, including night shifts.
  • US Citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.
  • Degree in Mechanical, Marine, or Electrical Engineering (preferred).
  • Hands-on experience with steam driven shipboard propulsion and power generation equipment (preferred).
  • Experience in shipyard/ship repair industrial areas (preferred).
  • Working knowledge of machine shops, hand tools, and precision measuring devices (preferred).
  • Active Secret Clearance (preferred).
