As an Engineering Technician 4 within the SEM Lab, you will support engineering and development efforts by providing microscopy services to solve complex analysis problems for semiconductor products. Your primary responsibility involves preparing and imaging samples in Scanning Transmission Electron Microscopy using ThermoFisher Helios systems. You will also perform FIB-SEM analysis, EDS, and Critical Dimension SEM while utilizing ifast and AutoTEM software. Day-to-day tasks include troubleshooting electrical and mechanical systems, inspecting materials for surface defects, and measuring circuitry with precision instruments like oscilloscopes and signal generators. You will collaborate with development engineers to test prototypes and models. The role requires technical proficiency in vacuum systems, voltage/current effects, and ion sputtering behavior. Candidates should possess a background in physical science or materials science to navigate the specialized requirements of this microscopy environment.
Prepare STEM samples using FEI/ThermoFisher Helios dual beam FIB-SEM tools.
Perform imaging of samples in Scanning Transmission Electron Microscopy (STEM) systems.
Conduct FIB-SEM analysis, EDS, and Critical Dimension SEM measurements.
Troubleshoot system-level and component-level issues in electrical and mechanical subsystems.
Inspect materials and components for surface defects using precision measuring instruments and microscopes.
Perform fault isolation on equipment to determine effective methods to remedy malfunctions.
Use oscilloscopes, signal generators, and specialized test apparatus to conduct operational testing.
What we're looking for
A BS degree in a physical science or an AS degree/equivalent training in materials science and analytical techniques.
0-2 years of experience in the field.
Experience operating dual beam FIB/SEM tools, specifically for preparing thin lamella for STEM or TEM imaging.
Knowledge of physics related to FIB/SEM tools, including vacuum systems, voltage/current effects, and ion sputtering behavior.
Ability to perform testing, troubleshooting, and fault isolation on electrical and mechanical systems using schematics and test plans.
Proficiency in using electronic test equipment, precision measuring instruments, and specialized test apparatus like oscilloscopes and signal generators.
Ability to collaborate with engineers to design, test, and troubleshoot prototypes and models.
