TL;DR · FEA/AI Methods Engineer

As a FEA/AI Methods Engineer at the Product Design team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of predictive engineering by integrating advanced Large Language Models and Machine Learning tools into finite element analysis workflows. Your daily tasks include designing experiments to characterize materials and advance constitutive models, conducting predictive simulations to inform product design decisions, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop innovative solutions for groundbreaking products like iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, and Vision Pro. This role requires a strong background in solid mechanics, implicit and explicit FEA, and proficiency in Python along with experience using tools such as Abaqus, ANSA, and META. You will work on complex systems-level modeling and simulation challenges, driving innovation from the initial stages of product development to engineering excellence.

What you'll do

  • Develop predictive finite element simulations to inform product design decisions.
  • Explore and integrate Large Language Models (LLMs) into the FEA workflow.
  • Design experiments to characterize materials and advance constitutive models.
  • Collaborate with vendors to develop necessary tools for future FEA workflows.
  • Validate simulation results across various levels of complexity in product development.

What we're looking for

  • Strong knowledge of solid mechanics and experience with implicit and explicit FEA.
  • M.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field with 3+ years of relevant experience.
  • Expertise in the mechanical behavior of materials and constitutive modeling.
  • Proficiency in Python for ML and experience with Abaqus, ANSA, and META.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and drive innovation in product design.
