Battery FEA Engineer

What you'll do

• Develop high-fidelity finite element analyses to predict battery performance before physical prototyping.
• Create coupled multi-physics models representing structural, mechanical, thermal, and electrochemical interactions.
• Validate simulation predictions against experimental data to improve model accuracy and reliability.
• Design and deploy automated workflows for geometry creation, calibration, and rapid design exploration.
• Implement advanced techniques like surrogate modeling, reduced-order modeling, and parameterized design of experiments.
• Develop non-standard test methods to calibrate material models and validate simulation results.
• Define instrumentation and measurement strategies to provide high-quality data for model validation.

What we're looking for

• MS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Computational Mechanics, Applied Mechanics, Materials Science, Applied Physics, or a similar field.
• Experience with commercial finite element analysis software such as Abaqus.
• Experience with advanced simulation techniques including nonlinear constitutive modeling and modeling of high speed events and large deformations.
• Experience programming in Python.
• Experience building, debugging, and calibrating finite element models.
• PhD and 10+ years relevant industry experience (preferred).
• Experience with coupled thermal-mechanical or electrochemical-mechanical modeling (preferred).
• Experience with LS-DYNA, ANSYS, COMSOL, physics-based machine learning, custom solver development, or HPC environments (preferred).
