As an Executive Director - Principal Architect within the Payments Technology team, you will provide deep domain expertise to design and evolve architecture platforms powering global eCommerce payment solutions. You will partner with business and technology leaders to shape the transformation of merchant acquiring capabilities, including online checkout experiences, payment gateway architecture, and partner integrations. Your daily responsibilities involve developing multi-year roadmaps, defining technical delivery strategies for cloud-native architectures, and establishing AI-enabled engineering patterns. You must utilize enterprise-authorized AI capabilities for architecture analysis while ensuring security and auditability. Required skills include 10+ years of experience in system design, knowledge of PCI-DSS, GDPR, and 3DS, and expertise in tokenization and fraud prevention. You will solve complex problems regarding transaction scaling, resiliency, and response SLAs for global merchants.
Advise stakeholders on design approaches, technology selection, and target state architecture for global eCommerce payment platforms.
Develop multi-year roadmaps for online checkout optimization, payment gateway modernization, and value-added services.
Translate complex merchant acquiring requirements into scalable, cloud-native architecture decisions and technical delivery roadmaps.
Establish reuse-first, AI-enabled engineering patterns and governance across the software development lifecycle.
Lead evaluation sessions with external vendors and startups to assess architectural designs and technical credentials.
Identify opportunities to modernize platform capabilities and automate remediation to improve operational stability.
Present eCommerce architecture strategies, decisions, and roadmaps to senior leaders and executives.
What we're looking for
Formal training or certification on architecture concepts and 10+ years of applied experience.
Hands-on experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability in eCommerce or merchant acquiring payment environments.
Deep knowledge of eCommerce payment flows, including online checkout, payment gateway architecture, tokenization, fraud prevention, and merchant/partner integration patterns.
Experience with transaction scaling, resiliency, and redundancy to manage and increase response SLAs and TPS.
Experience with payment industry standards and compliance frameworks such as PCI-DSS, GDPR, 3DS, encryption, and Open Banking.
Demonstrated experience applying enterprise-authorized AI capabilities within architecture and engineering workflows with strong validation habits.
Experience leading a product as a product owner or product manager, including defining eCommerce business capabilities and technical delivery roadmaps.
Ability to present and effectively communicate complex eCommerce architecture concepts to senior leaders and executives.
