TL;DR · Entry Level Hardware Developer

JOB TITLE: Entry level Hardware Developer - Rochester, MN - 2027 The Entry level Hardware Developer joins the team to support the physical and electrical design of high-frequency CMOS chips and microprocessors. You will perform schematic level design, circuit simulation, and layout for high-speed SERDES interfaces in advanced 3nm technologies. Key responsibilities include implementing circuit schematics, verifying against technology design rules, and transitioning high-speed IO architecture from NMZ to PAM4. You will utilize the Cadence tool suite, Spectre, and Spice simulators, while applying skills in VLSI design, timing analysis, and RTL design using Verilog or VHDL. Additionally, you will develop scripts using Python, Perl, and TCL to parse data. This role solves complex analog and digital system design problems for Power and Z microprocessors within a high-performance computing context.

What you'll do

  • Deliver the physical and electrical design of specific processor and ASIC design elements.
  • Implement circuit schematics for microprocessors and ASICs using sophisticated design tools and flows.
  • Verify designs against technology design rules and perform timing analysis.
  • Design, simulate, and layout high-speed SERDES interfaces for Power and Z microprocessors.
  • Perform schematic level design and in-depth circuit analysis using Cadence, Spectre, and Spice simulators.
  • Analyze designs for manufacturability and end-of-life requirements.
  • Develop scripts in Python, Perl, or TCL to parse data and automate design tasks.
  • Transition high-speed IO architecture from NMZ to PAM4 for future microprocessor support.

What we're looking for

  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Bachelor's Degree (preferred).
  • Experience in VLSI circuit design, physical design, integration, and timing analysis.
  • Proficiency in Python, VHDL, Perl, and TCL.
  • Experience with Cadence design tools, Spectre, and Spice simulators.
  • Knowledge of computer architectures, digital system design, and VLSI systems.
  • Experience in RTL design using Verilog or VHDL.
  • Experience in high-frequency processor or ASIC physical design (preferred).
