Embedded Software Engineering Specialist

What you'll do

• Design, develop, and enhance system diagnostics software for Caterpillar NPI programs.
• Lead multiple programs by identifying deliverables, specifying budgets, and tracking software development progress.
• Design and implement electronic control systems including all input and output components.
• Determine failure modes and develop on-board diagnostic strategies for electronic control modules.
• Create detailed software specifications based on high-level customer requirements.
• Identify and resolve software defects while managing issue list submissions.
• Perform verification testing on developed software and embedded systems.

• Use technical troubleshooting approaches to resolve hardware, software, and application issues.
• Produce software products in line with product requirements using software design and development tools.
• A bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electronics Technology, or a related field (preferred).
• Extensive engineering experience (preferred).
• Understanding of embedded programming languages (C or C++) and Matlab/Simulink (preferred).
• Strong foundation in system software development, including validation of embedded systems and diagnostics (preferred).
• Ability to facilitate highly collaborative worldwide teams to drive results and resolve complex issues (preferred).
