As an Embedded Linux Engineer, you will join a product development team to design and maintain real-time PREEMPT-RT Linux-based software for automated electromechanical systems. You will be responsible for developing system services, drivers, and middleware to ensure deterministic operation of motion and machine-control systems. Your daily work involves designing interfaces between embedded firmware, DSPs, sensors, and high-level application software while integrating industrial fieldbus protocols like EtherCAT to coordinate motors and actuators. The role also involves integrating machine-vision and AI Edge inspection subsystems with operator HMIs. To succeed, you must possess expertise in C/C++ for real-time operating systems, multithreaded software design, and source control tools. You will solve complex technical challenges in the domains of automation, robotics, and cable installation technologies to deliver reliable, field-ready products for global energy distribution.
Develop and maintain real-time PREEMPT-RT Linux-based software for automated electromechanical systems.
Design software interfaces between embedded firmware, DSPs, sensors, and high-level application software.
Develop system services, drivers, and middleware to support deterministic motion and machine control.
Implement coordinated motion control over industrial fieldbuses such as EtherCAT.
Integrate the control platform with machine-vision/AI edge inspection subsystems and operator HMIs.
Drive product architecture, feasibility studies, prototyping, and engineering verification for new systems.
Collaborate with suppliers and external partners to scale technical solutions.
Communicate test results and program data to internal and external stakeholders.
What we're looking for
Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
Three or more years of experience in C/C++ software development for embedded systems and real-time operating systems like PREEMPT-RT Linux.
Three or more years of experience with multithreaded and concurrent software design, including inter-process communication and hardware/software debugging.
Three or more years of experience using source control and modern software development tools.
Experience with DSP integration, signal processing, machine control systems, device drivers, or middleware.
Proficiency in Python scripting and automation.
Familiarity with industrial fieldbus protocols such as EtherCAT, CANopen, Modbus, or TCP/IP.
Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without sponsorship for a visa.
