Director, Platform Software Engineering

What you'll do

• Define the long-term architecture and technical vision for the OCI Robotics Cloud platform.
• Build a cloud platform for robot registration, identity, fleet management, and mission orchestration.
• Establish common APIs, service contracts, SDKs, and edge service frameworks for multi-vendor robot support.
• Lead the development of an AI-assisted, spec-driven robot onboarding platform to automate service contracts and documentation.
• Recruit, mentor, and grow a world-class cloud engineering organization.
• Drive engineering execution across architecture, planning, reliability, security, and operational excellence.
• Partner with Product Management to define the roadmap and customer adoption strategy.
• Represent the robotics cloud division in executive reviews and strategic technology initiatives.

What we're looking for

• BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Robotics, or a related technical field.
• 12+ years of experience building distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, or enterprise software platforms.
• 5+ years of engineering management experience leading multiple software engineering teams.
• Proven experience defining and delivering large-scale cloud platforms from concept to production.
• Strong technical background in distributed systems, Kubernetes, APIs, microservices, and cloud-native architectures.
• Demonstrated success hiring and scaling engineering organizations.
• Proficiency in Java and Python.
• Experience with cloud robotics, IoT, autonomous systems, or edge computing platforms (preferred).
