The Director of Software Engineering - Data & AI joins the Merchant Services Data and Reporting organization to lead the strategy, engineering, and operation of large-scale data platforms. This leader will oversee a Snowflake-centered data platform processing 600 million daily transactions, ensuring performance, security, and cost efficiency. Key responsibilities include scaling multi-department strategies for agentic AI-enabled engineering and SDLC automation while delivering trusted reporting solutions for Finance, Risk, Operations, Sales, and Marketing. The role requires expertise in distributed systems, cloud architecture, SQL, and Python or Java. The position focuses on solving complex data problems for external merchants and internal partners, managing high-volume transaction processing, and evolving architectures to support global expansion into markets outside the United States through disciplined execution and operational excellence.
Set and execute the technology strategy for Merchant Services data platforms to achieve measurable business outcomes.
Lead the engineering and operation of Snowflake-centered platforms processing 600 million daily transactions.
Scale multi-department strategies for agentic AI-enabled engineering and SDLC automation.
Deliver trusted data and reporting solutions for external merchants and internal business partners.
Design architectures and data models to support global expansion and increasing transaction volumes.

What we're looking for
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
15+ years of software engineering experience.
At least 5 years of experience building and managing large-scale, business-critical, and complex distributed data platforms.
Experience leading adoption of agentic AI-enabled engineering practices using enterprise-authorized tools.
Experience leading Snowflake-based data platforms or comparable cloud data ecosystems at enterprise scale.
Proven track record delivering complex payment, transaction processing, data, reporting, or financial systems in a global banking or regulated environment.
Experience attracting, hiring, developing, retaining, and recognizing high-performing engineering talent.
Proficiency with SQL and at least one general-purpose programming language, commonly Python or Java (preferred).
