JOB TITLE: Director of Engineering – Automotive Platform SW
The Director of Engineering – Automotive Platform SW joins the Automotive Software Platform team to oversee the entire lifecycle of automotive software projects from concept to production. This role involves analyzing requirements, preparing schedules, and coordinating cross-functional engineering tasks to ensure quality and timely delivery. You will act as the chief technical counterpart to OEM engineering leadership for ADAS programs, managing technical workstreams for RFIs and RFQs. Key responsibilities include translating customer needs into platform requirements and managing SoC, BSP, and middleware integration. Required skills include proficiency in C, C++, Java, or Python, alongside experience with QNX, Linux, or Android. You will solve complex system issues involving compute platform architecture, automotive safety frameworks like ISO 26262, and cybersecurity standards.
Lead and coordinate all technical aspects of automotive software projects from initial concept to production.
Act as the chief technical counterpart to OEM engineering leadership for ADAS-related programs.
Translate customer needs into specific Qualcomm platform requirements, features, and technical solutions.
Coordinate internal engineering teams across hardware, software, systems, and safety to meet customer milestones.
Drive the resolution of critical technical issues and manage project risks and escalations.
Represent the customer's priorities and constraints in internal roadmap discussions and management meetings.
Mentor cross-functional teams to help them prioritize and solve complex system problems effectively.
What we're looking for
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 8+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 7+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 6+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
4+ years of work experience with programming languages such as C, C++, Java, or Python.
Extensive experience in software engineering, including project management and leadership roles (preferred).
Strong background in automotive systems engineering, including compute platform architecture, embedded SW stacks, and AD stacks (preferred).
Solid understanding of automotive safety and quality frameworks like ISO 26262 and ASPICE (preferred).
Proven experience as a customer-facing technical leader and ability to lead cross-functional teams (preferred).
