The Director of Architecture - Global Specialty serves as a senior architecture leader within the Global Specialty business. This individual contributor and strategic advisor role involves advancing strategic architecture initiatives, developing business-aligned solutions, and ensuring standards align with enterprise principles. Key responsibilities include leading transformation initiatives, developing business capability maps, and managing architecture governance to drive portfolio sustainability. The candidate will design future-state application, integration, and information architecture models while assessing current capabilities for modernization. Required expertise includes cloud and container deployment architectures, microservices, API-based integrations using JSON and REST, and integrating AI and ML models into operational systems. The role requires deep insurance industry knowledge, specifically regarding property and casualty, underwriting, policy administration, and claims domains, to solve complex technology and business alignment problems.
Develop and evolve Global Specialty architecture strategies, roadmaps, and target-state architectures.
Lead architecture efforts for strategic business and technology transformation initiatives.
Translate business objectives into architecture outcomes and technology roadmaps for product stakeholders.
Develop and maintain business capability maps and value streams to support strategic planning.
Define architecture principles, reference architectures, and solution patterns aligned with enterprise standards.
Participate in architecture governance processes to review solutions and ensure consistency.
Identify architecture risks, technology gaps, and strategic dependencies while recommending mitigation approaches.
Serve as a strategic advisor to business and technology leaders to influence technology direction.
What we're looking for
10+ years of IT experience designing and implementing robust enterprise-level solutions across various software frameworks and platforms.
Demonstrated experience managing, coaching, and mentoring software architecture and engineering teams.
Strong background in architecture spanning business, contextual, conceptual, logical, and physical levels of thinking.
Experience designing and implementing cloud, modern, and container deployment architectures including cloud-native applications and orchestration systems.
Experience designing and implementing Microservices or API-based integrations with knowledge of JSON and REST.
Experience with agile development methodologies, DevOps practices (CI/CD), and automated testing tools.
Understanding of AI, ML, and integrating data science models into real-time operational systems.
