Executive Director of Architecture

What you'll do

• Lead and shape technical architecture initiatives across the entire enterprise application portfolio.
• Define and establish the strategic architectural direction for CVS Health.
• Manage and mentor a team of senior architects and architecture managers to develop their leadership skills.
• Develop and maintain a reference architecture that reflects practical, real-world implementation methods.
• Translate complex technical trade-offs into clear business outcomes for senior executives like the CIO and CTO.
• Identify and manage strategic technology partnerships based on architectural needs.
• Drive large-scale, cloud-native application designs across multiple business domains.

What we're looking for

• 15+ years of experience as a software developer or architect (20+ preferred).
• Proven track record leading large technical architecture initiatives across multiple value streams in a complex enterprise.
• Recognized expertise across multiple technical domains to serve as a resource for other architects.
• Demonstrated ability to influence senior executives by translating technical details into strategic business outcomes.
• Experience leading and developing other leaders, including senior architects and architecture managers.
• Strong collaboration, negotiation, coaching, and coalition-building skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent experience required; Master's degree preferred.
