The Director of Advanced Technology Lab (ATL) Wafer Fabrication leads a large, complex semiconductor manufacturing organization at the Linthicum facility. This role serves as a manager of managers, overseeing process engineering, integration, equipment engineering, and wafer fab operations to support both production and advanced technology development. The leader is responsible for staffing, budget oversight, and aligning engineering and operations to meet mission-critical program goals. Key responsibilities include improving safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance while managing a multidisciplinary team through growth and transformation. The role requires expertise in semiconductor manufacturing and microelectronic process environments involving silicon, Gallium Arsenide, Gallium Nitride, and Silicon Carbide technologies. This position operates at the intersection of advanced technology and national security mission support, solving complex problems in superconducting electronics, ultra-wideband electronics, and other beyond-Moore’s-Law technologies for ground-based, airborne, and space systems.
Oversee wafer fabrication operations and engineering for both production and advanced technology development.
Lead a large organization including process engineering, integration, equipment engineering, and wafer fab operations.
Manage personnel through a hierarchy of managers to ensure high performance and professional development.
Drive improvements in safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance within the manufacturing environment.
Align engineering and operations with mission-critical program priorities and business objectives.
Manage budgets, staffing, work prioritization, and cross-functional alignment for the wafer fabrication enterprise.
Translate customer commitments and technical requirements into actionable operational plans and workforce priorities.
Ensure compliance with security, export control, and contractual requirements in a high-consequence defense environment.
What we're looking for
U.S. Citizenship is required.
Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance with SCI access.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Business, or a related field (preferred).
Minimum of 10 years related leadership experience in semiconductor-related operations, manufacturing, engineering, advanced manufacturing environments, and/or program management (preferred: 15 years).
Demonstrated success leading managers and cross-functional teams in complex manufacturing environments, including large organizations operating in 24/7 settings.
Experience in defense, aerospace, national security, or other highly regulated manufacturing environments with mission-critical requirements.
Proven ability to drive operational, organizational, and technology transformations while improving safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance.
Strong business and financial acumen with the ability to translate program requirements into operational plans and workforce priorities.
