What you'll do

  • Research and map the AI music ecosystem to maintain an internal knowledge base of key players and trends.
  • Conduct deep-dive research into the business models, funding, and products of individual AI companies.
  • Develop and refine high-level AI music licensing strategies in collaboration with senior leadership and legal teams.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations for executive management regarding the state of AI music and company strategy.
  • Identify, qualify, and pursue new business leads for potential AI music partnerships and licensing opportunities.
  • Lead exploratory meetings with startups and emerging players to negotiate and establish partnership agreements.
  • Participate in complex negotiations by providing subject-matter expertise to ensure successful licensing outcomes.
  • Support legal teams in identifying targets and negotiating settlements for AI-related copyright infringements.

What we're looking for

  • Educated to degree level (legal, business or technical degree preferred).
  • 6+ years of relevant experience in business development, partnerships, law, or strategy within digital media, music, technology, or related industries.
  • Experience evaluating emerging technology companies, business models, and strategic partnership opportunities.
  • Strong analytical and research capabilities to synthesize complex information into actionable insights.
  • Ability to develop strategic recommendations supported by market intelligence and data analysis.
  • Strong relationship-building and networking skills across technology and entertainment sectors.
  • Proven ability to influence and collaborate with senior stakeholders across business, legal, and commercial teams.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, including experience presenting to executive leadership.
  • MBA, JD, or LLM degree (preferred).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Generative AI, AI Music, LLM technologies, and evolving market trends (preferred).
  • Background as a Lawyer, Business Developer, Management Consultant, or similar professional client-facing role (preferred).
  • Experience participating in complex commercial negotiations or partnership discussions (preferred).
  • Prior experience in music publishing, recorded music, streaming, entertainment, or media technology industries (preferred).
  • Exposure to international or multi-territory digital licensing environments (preferred).
  • High-level understanding of the music industry digital ecosystem, including licensing models and emerging platforms (preferred).
  • Familiarity with copyright, licensing, intellectual property, or enforcement frameworks related to AI-generated content (preferred).
  • Experience working with startups, venture-backed companies, consulting firms, or emerging technology ecosystems (preferred).
