DataServices Engineer, Apple Wallet, Payments & Commerce

What you'll do

• Architect and scale high-performance relational, NoSQL, streaming, and search data platforms.
• Manage and operate distributed data systems including Cassandra, Kafka, Elasticsearch, and Redis.
• Design and implement hybrid or multi-cloud architectures using AWS managed services like Aurora, MSK, and ElastiCache.
• Develop reusable infrastructure-as-code using Terraform, Ansible, or Crossplane to automate platform workflows.
• Deploy and manage containerized database workloads on Kubernetes in production environments.
• Perform database tuning, query optimization, capacity planning, and failure analysis for large-scale systems.
• Execute high-availability strategies, zero-downtime migrations, and large-scale infrastructure transitions.
• Build observability and alerting frameworks to monitor the health of the database fleet.

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience operating and scaling distributed data platforms including Cassandra, Kafka, Elasticsearch, and Redis.
• Deep expertise with AWS data services such as Aurora Postgres, RDS MSK, and ElastiCache.
• Proficiency in infrastructure-as-code using Terraform, Ansible, Crossplane, or equivalent tools.
• Experience deploying and operating containerized database workloads on Kubernetes in production environments.
• Solid Python skills for automation, operational tooling, and platform workflows.
• Deep understanding of database internals including query optimization, cluster tuning, capacity planning, and failure analysis.
• Proven experience designing HA/DR strategies, zero-downtime migrations, and large-scale infrastructure transitions.
